Cygnus Fire Alarm Servicing

Servicing of temporary fire alarms is carried out in accordance with current standard code of practice. Servicing to be carried out every 6 months minimum.

For the Cygnus alarm system we would usually recommend a service at 6 and 12 monthly intervals. We can save your site details into our Service Schedule so that we can seek approval to attend your premises when the alarms are due for service.

At 6 months a visual check of all of the units with a few units picked at random in proportion to the amount of equipment on site are fully serviced and any batteries showing a low on the Panel are replaced. The Control Panel history is also checked, firmware updates are added and our engineer will ensure full mesh network connection is established.

At 12 months every unit on site is fully serviced and a replacement battery installed. Any broken/damaged parts are replaced or substituted with complete new units if beyond repair (we can advise new units as a recommendation if preferred). Again the Control Panel history will be checked, firmware dates are added and full mesh network connection is established.

Air Cushion System Servicing

Our bag inspectors will only carry out inspections on bags that are easily accessible and are readily availa-ble for inspection. Bull Products provide a risk assessment and method statement for all works carried out in this regard. Only Impact-Bull air cushions will be serviced.

  • Check year of manufacture and date of last inspection.
  • Examine the outer casing for any rips, tears or damage. Bags with holes greater than 2 inches in length/ diameter shall be condemned.
  • Inspect the fastening buckles for damage. These must be fully operational. Replace missing buckles and sliders.
  • Remove any build-up of mortar or mud with a stiff hand brush.
  • Inspection of air cushions on site – by the same method as filling the cushion in the manufacturing process the volume of fill shall be the test method. The air pocket volume must completely fill the outer cushion.
  • Bags that have passed all of the above tests will be spray marked with a coloured dot (except red) on one corner of the bag.
  • Failed bags will be marked with a red ‘X’, and these must be removed from service immediately.
  • Bull Products can provide a chargeable collection service for condemned bags upon request.
  • Upon completion of inspection a full report/certificate is submitted to the site representative which is signed by both parties. The inspector can only determine “fit for purpose” of bag at the time of inspection. It is the responsibility of the user/contractor to inspect bags prior to each use.

Dry Riser Servicing

  • Purpose built dry riser testing unit with 1000 gallon tank
  • Service carried out by skilled technicians for the annual wet test of dry risers and provide a 6 month-ly mechanical inspection if required; to ensure that dry risers on multi-storey sites are in prefect working order, should the fire brigade need to use them.
  • Safe and secure testing
  • Water provided from the on-board 1000 gallon tank, thereby reducing the requirement for numer-ous lengths of hazardous lay-flat hose.
  • On arrival to site our technicians will cordon off the area, making it safe and will mechanically in-spect the system. When this preparation is complete the system is filled and pressurised to the cur-rent standard.
  • Repairs are carried out using British Standard approved parts
  • When a water test is complete the water is drained back into the tank and reused.
