Bull Products protects listed buildings in latest fire safety project

Bull Products supplied the SiteProtect Wireless Alarm System during the construction of Ledian Gardens in Kent – a retirement village which features more than 100 bedrooms, a swimming pool, spa, gym and restaurant.

Due for completion in May 2021, the development consists of two listed buildings, and timber-framed buildings which require out-of-hours fire protection.

To preserve the listed buildings Ledian Gardens required a wireless solution that would remove the need to fit hard-wired smoke and heat detectors onto ceilings.

For maximum flexibility and protection, Bull supplied its detector poles fitted to the fire point trolleys. The height-extendable pole provides smoke/heat detection and can be easily moved around the site without the need to disconnect and re-install it.

The detector is hard-wired to the alarm, via the extendable pole, and is compatible with CYG2L and CYG2/85DBL SiteProtect alarms. Should the detector raise an alert, the SiteProtect alarm sounds, triggering the other units installed into the alarm system. The control panel then shows the exact location of the detector which has activated the alarm.

But this level of fire protection also optimises mobility on the site, as the detector head doesn’t need to be fixed to the changing-state ceiling, and the versatile height of the pole makes the trolley fully-mobile.  As the whole unit can be quickly deployed and no stepladders or tools are needed, engineers’ time is saved, and risks are greatly reduced.
